About the author

Stephan Rüdisühli

Born in 1983, CEO of Friedrich Reinhardt Verlag

What is your connection to Basel?

I grew up in Birsfelden (Blätzbums), which in principle belongs to Basel. But I have been living in Basel for more than 10 years and I feel totally at home here.

How did you get the idea for the book?

When speaking to friends at home and abroad I sometimes made "funny" comments about what a real Bebbi should definitely do or know. For example, you should never say mask, because it is a "Larve". You must also swim in the Rhine at least once in your life. These funny conversations turned into a book in early 2020.

Speaking Baseldytsch

In chapter 2 you will learn the most important words in Baseldytsch. Here you learn how to pronounce them correctly.
Listen to the correct pronunciation of all the words. You will find the explanation in the book.
